TRAINING FAQs

Do I have to be flexible to teach yoga ?

Flexibility can be overrated. Instead let's focus on being a compassionate, supportive and inspiring yoga teacher who is also having fun and learning along the way. That said, a certain amount of physical mobility and strength building will be required to take the course, you will be in and out of postures and on and off the mat, exploring your connection to yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and maybe spiritually.

How do I know if is the course for me ?

We can explore whether you feel the syllabus suits your learning outcomes during a friendly chat. You may not have even decided yet whether you want to teach yoga, instead, you may just want develop and deepen your understanding of yoga and that's okay too. In fact, you may not know which path you'll take until the end of the course, let's stay light hearted about figuring that out for now!

How is the course accredited?

The accreditation supplied by Yoga Alliance Professionals is internationally recognised as having the highest standards in the industry. It guarantees the student, that the course they have taken meets professional requirements and the lead teacher has a minimum of 4000 hours of teaching experience.

How much is the course and can I pay in instalments?

The course costs £8,500. Upon acceptance onto the course, a £2500 deposit is required, you can then chose to pay the the balance by the start date or you can chose to opt for a three instalment payment arrangement. To find out exactly what's included in your training, check out our syllabus page. â€‹

How will I practice being a teacher to classes, if we're learning one to one?

Training to be a yoga teacher can be intense and so I hope you will share your journey with your friends and family who can support you and enjoy your training classes, by forming a small class set up for you.

You will also be training me and I'm super friendly, so as your confidence builds we can add bodies to our group of two. However, during the training if you would rather teach to unknown faces, I can arrange different group sizes as your experience grows.

How will I stand out amongst many yoga teachers?

Feedback from many yoga studios is that finding yoga teachers is easy, finding good yoga teachers is much harder.
This course will provide you with the confidence and knowledge
of an outstanding yoga teacher, setting you apart and enabling you to build your own client base.

What do training days look like?

Each day of training, whether it be 8 hours or 5 hours, home, studio or internationally, will begin with a yoga practice together, to warm the body and clear and prepare the mind for learning.

Each day will involve breaks so that we can pause and reset and allow our minds the optimum ability to take in new information.

Each day of training, will involve us checking in to make sure you're happy with the pace and methods of learning.

What happens if I need to cancel a training day?

Things crop up, I know it can't be helped, I would kindly ask that you provide 24 hours notice for each pre-arranged training and cover any travel expenses if this notice period isn't provided.

Can I train with a friend?

You and a friend can learn together and each other's support would no doubt, be immensely encouraging. Training days would have to suit three calendars which I am sure we can organise. The price for two to one training is £13,000. Enquire to find out more.

The program says business like approach but aren't we working with energy and breath?

The whole yoga training program is established in eastern philosophies but our approach to learning is grounded in clear and simple, light hearted and uncomplicated sessions. It is absolutely possible to combine the two and this course will offer the opportunities to take lessons from the mat and into life.

I'm in Yorkshire, can I train with you?

In theory, yes but we would need to co-ordinate and collate our training days together, a little more than if you're in the South East of England. My easy 'catchment' area is 50 miles from the south coast and if you are further afield, we can group our training days in modules.

How much self study is required?

You are encouraged to spend a minimum of 50 hours of self study time but many find they spend longer and this will include reading, researching, designing, self practice and homework but don't panic, all your self study will be engaging, interesting and useable when you start teaching.

How quickly will I complete the course?

This is entirely up to you. I have had students take 18 months, I have had students who take six months. The pace, the understanding of the course content and the speed in which you complete your homework will all factor into how fast your train.
If you have timeline expectations, let's talk about these during our initial chat.

What happens if I don't pass my final assessment?

We'll know each other well by the time it comes to your assessment and we'll have discussed the venue, class numbers, class style and delivery and so we'll only schedule it when we both feel you're ready for it.

Should anything unforeseen happen on the day, we will discuss, replan, gain confidence and rebook (depending on studio location, this may have a hire charge to it.)
