When training to become a yoga teacher, a strong understanding of Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) is essential, not just for teaching effectively, but for ensuring your students' safety and well-being.

That’s why every course accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals includes a dedicated A&P module, to help create confident, knowledgeable, and responsible yoga teachers.

Our bespoke Yoga Teacher Training programme in Eastbourne, East Sussex is proud to offer an A&P module led by Leane Owen, MRes, BSc (Hons), PG Dip, HCPC, MCSP—a senior university lecturer and chartered physiotherapist. With her extensive background in both academic and clinical settings, Leane brings a grounded, in-depth, and highly accessible approach to this vital area of study.

What You’ll Learn

The Anatomy and Physiology content is delivered in clear, two-hour sessions, making complex information easy to understand and apply directly to your teaching. Topics include:

  • Bones & Joints

  • Muscles & Fascia

  • Movement & Planes of Movement

  • Developmental A&P Across the Lifespan

  • Lungs & Respiration

  • Heart, Blood & Circulation

  • Nervous System & Neural Signalling

This module is not just theoretical—it’s designed to be practical and relevant, helping you understand how the body moves, adapts, and responds to yoga practice.

Whether you plan to teach dynamic vinyasa flows or restorative practices, this training ensures you’ll leave with the anatomical knowledge needed to teach safely and confidently.

*Every course accredited from Yoga Alliance Professionals has to include an Anatomy & Physiology module to make a nation of safe yoga teachers.
